At 19, I have been fortunate enough to manage network environments for 60+ companies at one of Vermont’s best MSPs while building a datacenter-grade lab environment in my college dorm-room.
Most people my age are figuring out their major in college. I’m already planning my legacy.
A comprehensive network lab I designed to help me bridge the gap between my academic courses and real-world industry experience.
I am currently pursuing the CCNP Enterprise certification through a specialized study course at Champlain College for my final semesters, targeting the ENCOR & ENARSI exams in particular.
My end goal is achieving the CCIE certification by 24 years of age.
The CCIE in my eyes represents a peak in one’s career.
Holding the CCIE certification will help me establish credibility, and achieving this at such a young age could give me the opportunity to speak at conferences to people like myself!
“What are our ethical responsibilities as consumer-citizens in using (digital) technologies?” – When I read this question and think about my previous postings regarding the pseudo-anonymous app “Yik Yak”, I immediately think of my various attempts to deconstruct the social media platform.
“What are the concerns and ethical challenges that come along with communicating through different technologies, and how do we manage them?” – The answer to this question would definitely vary from person to person. Technologies like your phone and your computer allow you hundreds of ways to communicate with other people, both positive, negative, and in between.
I confidently can say that I set strong boundaries between my work life and my social life. To me, you can never be too careful when it comes to your social life. Despite this, I enjoy practicing my craft outside of the office.
As someone in their early career whose primary profession is implementing technologies for non-technical consumers, my use of technology and how it impacts other people around me is more direct than others who do not work with technology on a daily basis. I am responsible for implementing and deploying network technologies, software, hardware, etc. My employers’ clients, acting as consumer-citizens in this case, interact with these technologies on a high-level and daily basis but typically do not understand how the technology functions.
